We all live in a world full of distractions where it takes real effort to stay focused. This is especially true when we work from home, which a lot of people prefer to do nowadays.

I read about “environment design.” and been really keen on knowing more and hence thought that is what i will share it with my community today:

“Environment Designing” means arranging our surroundings to help us do things more effortlessly.

For instance: if there’s a cookie on the kitchen counter, we’ll end up eating it just because it’s there, not because we are hungry.

I’ve been applying this at a few places at home to boost my productivity when working from home. Here are a few for you:

  1. To Get better sleep: I follow a routine before bedtime ( Journaling) and avoiding coffee after 3:00 pm, keeping the room dark and cool as i had sleep issues earlier and would function with 3-4 hours of sleep, however, now am aware how much Good sleep is essential for focus, memory, and learning.
  2. Moving my body: I make sure i get out of the house within 1 hour of my wake up and keep my gym clothes ready in the night so that its right Infront of me and i also assign a few important task after 1.5 hours so that i finish my workout within that one hour and have space for the next task. This helps my brain and mood, and not have more option but to stick to the routine.
  3. Hydrate: I make sure to fill 4 water bottle around the places where i spend most of the time in the entire day and have kept an alarm after every 45mins to sip water. we tend to focus on a lot of other things and miss on these very small yet vital ingredient for out body. Staying hydrated is important for the brain to work well. ( You can give it a try)

You know , by making these tiny changes in the environment and daily routine, I’ve found it easier to stay more accountable and focused.

You may want to write down and put into action a of these environment design tips together… and watch how it all results in enabling all the habits you’ve been trying to build.
