I know, January is over but “It’s never too late to be what you might have been” Said George Eliot.
There are several ways to create goals and i have a tried a few the most simplest and functional one found is what i am going to share with you’ll.
Step 1: Activate DND Mode
- Sit in a place where you have the space to be yourself
- Switch off all your gadgets
- Tell the world you need some time for your future “YOU”
Step2. Prep Your Sheet
- Grab a paper/notepad and create columns “POSITIVE and “NEGATIVE”.
- What you can also do is use a templet that i have created and will be more that happy if it can be a help to you. Thank me later 🙂
Step 3: Reflect your last year in silence
- you might want to revisit your emails, photos, outings etc.
- Now list down every activity, moments and people that gives you a sense of high positive OR negative emotions.
- Now make a list of all of those activities/people/moments in their respective columns.
Step 5: Identify Positive Emotions/Patterns
- Conduct an “80/20 analysis” to identify consistent triggers in your positive experiences.
- For instance, were these moments associated with people, work, leisure or for a new found hobby ?
Step 5: Identify Negative Emotions/Patterns
- Apply the same 80/20 analysis to your negative experiences.
- Identify the 20% of factors in your negative column that contributed to the most consistent lows.
- For example was it related to burn out at work, with specific people, inconsistency in any major habit.
Step 6: Create your 2024
- Now, its time to take action:
- Incorporate your positive patterns into your 2024 calendar.
- Block your self for specific dates for all that are there in your list of Positives for example: upcoming family vacations, plan monthly dinners with uplifting friends, and block off weekends dedicated to working on your passion project.
Step 7: Eliminate the Negative
- Before your are done make a “NOT TO DO” list that has all your identified negative patterns.
- Keep this list prominently visible to avoid incorporating these detrimental habits into your calendar due to feelings of obligation, guilt, FOMO, or other irrelevant considerations. because if its “NO” then might as well make it a “HELL NOH”
Final Reminder
Don’t just get rid of the negative stuff, that leaves an empty space. Put the good things in your schedule from the start. If they’re not in there, they probably won’t happen at all.
