The biggest lie you can tell is the one you tell yourself.
This idea hit me hard, and it still does. I’ve been thinking about the lies I tell myself – from small half-truths to big ones to avoid facing tough truths.
I’ve been guilty of all these lies, but with this new awareness, I’m determined to fight back more effectively. My hope is that by sharing this, you’ll gain new awareness too, empowering you to fight these battles on solid ground.
Here are a few lies we often tell ourselves (and how to fight back):
Lie 1: “I’m waiting for the perfect moment.” Truth: Seize opportunities; there’s no perfect time.
Lie 2: “I’ll be happy when I achieve [X].” Truth: Real happiness comes from within, not external milestones.
Lie 3: “I don’t have time for [X].” Truth: Prioritize what matters; make time for what’s important.
Lie 4: “Someone will save me.” Truth: Rely on yourself first; seek support when needed.
Lie 5: “They just got lucky.” Truth: Success comes from hard work, not luck alone.
Lie 6: “I’m too late to start.” Truth: It’s never too late to begin; start now.
Lie 7: “I’ll do it later.” Truth: Act now; procrastination leads to missed opportunities.
Reflect on these lies and catch yourself when you say them. Use the truths to change your mindset and take action.
I’d love to hear from you:
- Which lie resonates with you the most?
- What other lies do you recognize?
- How will you fight back against these lies?
